Great Dollhouses - The Kaleidoscope House

Found on Babyology' Pinterest board

It's a modernist, fantasy-fueling cacophony of color. A dollhouse enthusiast's dream … or nightmare, depending on your opinion of modern design. It was commissioned in 2001 by the now defunct Bozart Toys, whose benefactor Larry Mangel would give grants to top-end designers to create toys of immense quality and educational value.

Built in 1:12 scale, the panels are colored perspex and are movable and interchangeable. They can be shifted to make new colors, allowing the house to take on different atmospheres.

Designed by New York architect Peter Wheelwright and artist Laurie Simmons, the ‘people’ that came with the house were modeled on the designers themselves, and their children. (You will have to use zoom-iin to see them)
